ROARING FORK QUILT GUILD NEWSLETTER
Happy Valentines Day from the Roaring Fork Quilt Guild!
Our last meeting was held on January 13th at the Carbondale Library. We enjoyed a lunch of Rachel Ray’s White Minestrone Soup with Fennel and Sausage made by Nancy Maurin. Annette Alderson shared her antique quilts during the program. We had great attendance for this meeting – 16 quilters. Minutes were sent to all members on January 15, 2019.
UPCOMING MEETING Sunday, February 10th:
During our Soup and Sew at the Carbondale Library (320 Sopris Ave, Carbondale) from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. we will have a program by Danise Cardona of Motley Fabrics in Gypsum.
Please remember that dues of $30 were due in January. Dues can be paid in cash or check (written to Roaring Fork Quilt Guild) at the meeting or may be sent to Kelly Wood (621 South 2nd Street, Carbondale, CO 81623). We had 15 paid memberships by the end of the January meeting. Let’s make this at least 20 by the end of the February meeting.
The guild is still needing volunteer(s) to assist with programs. Please let a member of the board know if you would like to volunteer. Fiona has set up all the programs for this year and we need assistance contacting the speakers and making all the necessary arrangements. We also need a volunteer(s) to identify programs for 2020. Planning for programs is done a year in advance in order to fit in speakers schedules.
BLOCK of THE MONTH:
I hope everyone has kept up on their block of the month blocks. January’s block was a Trip Around the World block. Expect to see another block in February.
If you would like to volunteer to bring soup, bread or other goodies for a Sunday Soup and Sew please contact Wendy Glassier (Food Chair). This month the soup will be provided by Cil Klamper and other goodies will be provided by Debbie Kelly, Jones Winter and Becky McDaniel.
RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT:
Reminder: If you have your section of the quilt, please bring it to the meeting or get it to Janice Duroux or Donna Dayton by February 10th. Janice has arranged for the River Runs Through It quilts to be on display at the Basalt Library, 14 Midland Ave, Basalt, CO in the month of March. Please see Janice if you would like to volunteer to assist in hanging the quilts. The library is holding an artist reception for RFQG on March 21st from 5:30- 6:30. Janice is looking for volunteers to bring some of their quilts to share at the artist’s reception only. Please let her know if you can bring quilts to the reception. Please attend the reception and encourage others to attend. The library is publicizing the event.
